"We would like to thank you and your combo for a totally delightful evening at the Press Club last night. We were just bubbling with tuneful energy the rest of the evening, and still today feel the pulse.
"One aspect of the music you created that particularly attracts us is this - that while you performed for the audience (and for each other, with warmth and pleasant melodic banter) you also conversed
with the audience musically. You typically gave us the tune and the
chords at the beginning, and along the way while you created your own
flights of innovation within the context of the song's framework, you
and your combo from time to time reminded us where you were (and thus
where we were, if we were getting a bit lost). This is more than just
good manners, it's communication, it's conversation, it's connection.
To us, and I'm willing to guess that this is true also for many
others who so thoroughly enjoyed the evening you created, this two-way
stance, two-way engagement brings the music more personally to us. We
feel part of the process (to the obvious point of dancing this time).
"So,
to you, your violinist, bassist, and rhythm guitarist, thank you so
much. Bravo for the quality of your performance and the conversation,
the connection that made last night memorable."
